Story Behind The Story

Often, an emotional truth lies behind each picture. I call it “the story behind the story”. A term my cousin and I use frequently about social media images that we see or post.
Every picture tells a story. Behind each snap, another story is happening…
We choose to share the best images, hoping it tells a good story.
Sometimes the outtakes, bloopers, and/or unedited versions reveal the better story...
On the day this picture (below) was taken, I was twelve days post-op; healing from an unexpected and unplanned surgery. I was nervous, anxious, and excited about this shoot. Mentally, I felt prepared. I had a team, styles were ironed and hung, and models were ready. Physically, I felt good, but I was not ready.
My legs were weak; they trembled...I almost fell while standing still. My stomach was tender; pants irritated my incision areas. My chest was tight; had breathing complications from the surgery. I had no idea how to pose, nor what to do. My eight year old positioned my feet, as the photographer instructed my hand movements, and my friend said "relax, breathe in, chin up, yassssss".
The picture is supposed to tell you to buy this shirt...to remind you to worship. I am telling you, that in my darkest days and toughest times, all I have is worship.
Needless to say, you can't see all it took to capture this shot...this moment. There is so much more to this story. Until time permits, I will worship til I win.
